We’ve had a spate of spam registrations on the forum, I’m sure you’ve noticed. The Visual Confirmation Code is already enabled but although it slows these webbots down, they know exactly what POST data to send the forum signup script to get themselves registered automatically. It’s become necessary therefore to set Account Activation to Admin.

In effect this means that accounts for new registered users has to be ‘switched on’. There will be a short delay, no more than 12-24hrs before (genuine) users can access the forum. In many cases the activation will be MUCH quicker as the forum is checked at regular intervals. Other spam attempts will be deleted. I'm going to give this a try and see how it goes. Apologies for any inconvenience.
