Anand will face ex World Champion Anatoly Karpov
in a rapid match in France. The event will take
place in
Bastia on October 31st and continue in
Ajaccio on November 2nd alongside the
Corsica Masters main event.

Karpov
was beaten easily, finding it hard to equalise
against the much sharper and in-form Anand.
Karpov will have to prepare far better if he is
to avoid another humiliation at the hands of
Kasparov in Dec 09 (cancelled 3rd Nov). Regardless of the friendly
nature of these events and the simultaneous
exhibitions that go with them Karpov's
reputation is at risk of being damaged. At the moment these
matches are a waste of time.
